First Cambridge International Centre in Oman

In 2006, Ahmad bin Majid Private School was approved as a Cambridge International School and Cambridge Assessment Centre. In the same year, the school became the first in the Gulf to pilot the Cambridge International Primary Achievement Test (CIPAT) and offered the Cambridge International Primary Programme to its grade 5 and 6 students. The school progressed to offer Cambridge curriculum and assessments to the lower secondary and upper secondary in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

Pearson School And Edexcel Assessment Centre

The school became a Pearson School and Edexcel Assessment Centre in 2022 and started offering Pearson/ Edexcel AS/A level curriculum from September 2023.

BRIEF HISTORY OF CAMBRIDGE AT ABM

Ahmad bin Majid Private School provides the Cambridge primary curriculum to learners in grades 1 through 6, the Cambridge lower secondary curriculum to students in grades 7 and 8, and the Cambridge IGCSE to students in grades 9 and 10.

Students in grades 11 and 12 can choose between the Omani Thanawiyah and international AS/A level programs i.e., Cambridge and Pearson/Edexcel AS/A level curricula.

In 2006, Ahmad bin Majid Private School was designated as a Cambridge International School and Cambridge Assessment Centre. In the process, the school became the first in the Gulf to pilot the Cambridge International Primary Achievement Test (CIPAT) and to offer the Cambridge Primary curriculum to students in grades 5 and 6.

In 2007, the school was one of the few to pilot the Cambridge lower secondary curriculum and have students take the Cambridge Checkpoint.

The first IGCSE class took their exams in 2008.

The school took part in several curriculum and assessment pilot programs with Cambridge between 2008 and 2015.

From 2016 to 2018, the school was one of the first 19 Cambridge international schools worldwide to pilot the Cambridge Global Perspectives for the Primary and Lower Secondary curriculum before it was made available to all Cambridge schools. From 2018 to the present, Cambridge Global Perspectives is available to students in grades 3 to 10.

Students from the school participated in the Cambridge Personality Styles Questionnaire for Grades 9 – 11 in 2021.

In 2022, the school became a Pearson School and an Edexcel Assessment Centre, and in September 2023, it began offering Pearson/Edexcel AS/A level curriculum.
